Heat pumps consume less energy than PTC, increasing the range of electric vehicles. PTC heating uses direct conversion of electrical energy into heat, which is then fed into the passenger compartment by an electronic fan, resulting in high electrical energy consumption. Heat pump heating uses refrigerant to absorb heat outside the vehicle through a heat exchanger, and brings the heat into the vehicle to provide heating. Compared to PTC heating, it has lower electrical energy consumption and can significantly increase the range of electric vehicles. However, its heating effect is poor in low-temperature environments. Heat pumps consume less energy than PTC, increasing the range of electric vehicles. Taking Model 3 as an example, compared to PTC heating method, the average power consumption of heat pump air conditioning per 100 kilometers is reduced by 2.2-2.5 kWh.
